Appellate Advocacy

Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman attorneys routinely appear and argue before the appellate courts of Iowa and the United States. They are familiar with all the aspects of state and federal appellate procedure. Our attorneys include several former clerks to the Iowa Supreme Court and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal.

Our lawyers directly serve firm clients in defending or challenging determinations made by lower courts and administrative agencies. We are also available to assist colleagues from other firms in whatever capacity is needed, from discrete consultations to assuming full responsibility for an appeal.

The firm’s appellate advocates perform research, determine strategies, develop case analyses, write briefs and engage in oral arguments before the appellate courts. In addition, our appellate advocates provide support at the trial level in error preservation and the framing of legal issues in anticipation of any potential appellate review.
