Eric J. Langston

Eric Langston is a business attorney with experience navigating the complexities of the bankruptcy process and helping clients explore restructuring alternatives that maximize value for stakeholders. He assists clients in a variety of industries with commercial real estate transactions of all sizes.  Additionally, he has extensive experience working with condominium boards and home owners’ associations to resolve disputes with owners and evaluate strategic goals.  He is working to develop his knowledge with regards to advising landlords of their rights and responsibilities in their relationship with tenants. 

Prior to joining Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC in 2019, Mr. Langston worked as an associate in Chicago, most recently in the bankruptcy and restructuring group of Kirkland & Ellis, LLP.  In that role, he represented an international toy company with nearly $5 billion in debt pursue a global restructuring that avoided liquidation and an international production equipment rental company with $1 billion in debt pursue a merger with a strategic partner as part of a comprehensive plan of reorganization. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he worked in the higher education industry for seven years as a data scientist. 

Mr. Langston was raised in Cedar Rapids and is looking forward to reengaging with the community and continuing his volunteer work, which has historically been helping the less fortunate. He has volunteered with organizations such as the Wills for Heroes Foundation, where he reviews estate planning documents and discusses their implications with clients, and Ladder Up, were he prepares and reviews income tax returns for low-income families. Mr. Langston has also been an active Rotary and Bar Association member.
